Hill Earns Medalist Honors at State Publinx

Alan Hill of Spring Branch, playing on his "home course" at San Antonio's Pecan Valley Golf Club, is the medalist at the Texas Golf Association's 2006 Texas State Public Links Championship. Rounds of 68 and 69 put Hill, the 2003 TGA Player of the Year, five strokes clear of runner-up Corey Roberson of Van, and gives him the No. 1 seed entering match play.

“I have been hitting the ball good,” Hill said. “I haven’t been putting very good so it was nice to be on my home course and have a little confidence on the greens.”

Sixteen golfers qualified for match play, which began Saturday morning. The eventual champion will play four matches in two days, 36 holes each Saturday and Sunday.
