Texas Courses in "Best Of" Rankings

Golf Digest and Golfweek magazines have both recently released their annual golf course rankings. Here's a look at how Texas courses fared in each.

Golf Digest - Best New Courses 2006

  • Best New Private: 3. Fazio Course at The Club at Carlton Woods, The Woodlands
  • Best New Public $75 and Over: 9. Tournament Course at Redstone Golf Club, Humble

Golfweek

    Golfweek is clueless. Escondido, Boot Ranch, Briggs Ranch and Cordillera Ranch are not on the list? What idiots. Those four are better than that list combined. Waterwood? Please. The f_ing Bandit? Jeez. What about Rockport CC? Might be the best in Texas.

    I know they do those lists just to get people talking, so it really doesn't matter, but it would be nice if someone at Golfweek actually came to Texas to look around.

  2. I was surprised by those omissions, too, but looking at Golfweek's other rankings, it appears that many courses newer than two years old aren't being included in the state rankings (although that doesn't explain the omission of every course you mentioned).
