CC's Oso Appears Safe from the Bulldozers

About six months ago, the City of Corpus Christi and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi University came up with a plan to alleviate the university's desperate need for more space: give Oso Beach Municipal Golf Course to the school. A&M-CC would plow under Oso and build an expansion; the city would acquire a local private course and make it the new municipal, or would build a new muny.

You can get fuller details of the plan in our first post about it here.

Golfers in Corpus weren't too pleased with this idea. And nobody in Corpus is ever pleased with anything new. So it now appears the idea is dead.

Rather than relocate golfers, the city and university are now talking about relocating little league baseball and Little Miss Kickball players from South Guth Park, almost directly across the Cayo del Oso from the school's existing facilities, and turning that land over to the university.

Local golfers are mighty pleased.
