The tournament was played on the Yucca Course at Santa Teresa Country Club.
Callas posted rounds of 69-69-64-68 to finish at 18-under 270. Weesner, of Hideaway, was at 273. Tied for third were El Pasoan Trent Ronmann, a former UTEP golfer now an assistant pro at El Paso Country Club, and Judd Cornell, of Omaha, Neb., at 274. Callas earned $20,000 with the victory.
The El Paso Times reported:
But this was Callas' day. He began slowly, making the turn at 1 under. But he put his final stamp on this tournament on the back nine, holing a bunker shot on 16 for birdie and then two-putting for birdie on 18.
"Down the stretch, I was just trying to hit fairways," Callas said, shaking his head. "I couldn't believe I reached the green in two (on 18), because I wasn't trying to. I think some adrenaline kicked in. I knew then it was probably over unless I did something horrendous."
He did not.
