Futures Tour Reconfigures Its Texas Swing, Adds Brownsville, SA Tourneys

The Duramed Futures Tour, the second-highest women's golf tour in America and the official feeder tour of the LPGA, will have two tournaments in Texas again in 2009. They just won't be played in the same cities.

In recent years, the Futures Tour has played back-to-back weeks in McAllen and El Paso. Starting in 2009, those tournaments are gone. And in their place are back-to-back stops in Brownsville and San Antonio.

The Brownsville stop replaces the McAllen one, but keeps professional women's golf in the Valley. The Historic Brownsville Open will take place April 24-26, 2009, at Rancho Viejo Country Club. The tournament is contracted through 2011.

Also contracted through 2011 is a new stop in San Antonio that will be played at Dominion Country Club, which previously had been the longtime host site of the Champions Tour event in the Alamo City.

That tournament, not yet named, first takes place May 1-3, 2009.
