newport dunes golf clubTexas has a new beachfront golf course now open. Newport Dunes Golf Club in Port Aransas is on Mustang Island, it's an Arnold Palmer Sigature Course, and it is open for play.

The course is part of the Newport Beach and Golf Resort, which is still in the making. Ultimately, the course is expected to be open only to resort guests. But for now - and probably for the next year, according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times - the Newport Dunes Golf Club is open for public play. Its first day of public play was Sept. 4, 2008.

The par-72 track tips out around 6,800 yards. Fifteen of the holes are on the beach side of Highway 361 - the road connecting Corpus Christi to Port Aransas - while the other three holes are on the opposite side of the highway.

Standard green fees are $65 Monday-Thursday, $75 on Fridays, $85 Saturday-Sunday, and $90 on holidays. Call (361) 749-GOLF for more info, or visit www.newportdunesgolf.com.

I thought it was way over priced and the clubhouse was a terrible single wide trailer!!!
