Kortan Claims Adams Series Opener

The Adams Golf Pro Tour Series got its 2009 season off to a stormy start in Louisiana this weekend. The Capital One Classic took place at Ellendale Country Club in Houma. Unfortunately, heavy rains forced tournament organizers to cancel the final round. And that meant 36-hole leader Brian Kortan of Albuquerque, N.M., was the winner.

Kortan posted back-to-back 66s to finish at 12-under, two strokes ahead of Waco's Adam Meyer. Kortan earned $15,000 for the victory, Meyer $8,200 for his runner-up showing.
