Callaway Golf Western Championship Results

From the Northern Texas PGA:

MIDLAND, TX – Perry Arthur, teaching professional at Sherrill Park Golf Course in Richardson, Texas, finished with a two round total, 6-under par, 138 to win the Callaway Golf Western Championship by one shot. Arthur began the day one shot behind the leaders at 4-under par. With a bogey on hole #1, Arthur was able to bounce back with three birdies on the front nine to post a 2-under par, 34. Arthur’s back nine proved steady with just one bogey, one birdie and seven pars to finish the day at 2-under par, 70. With this victory, Arthur was able to tie Cameron Doan’s record of three (3) Western Championship titles. His other victories were in 1999 and 2006. This marks Arthur's 18th Northern Texas PGA Individual Major Championship, extending his total majors won lead to three (3) over Benny Passons with fifteen (15).

Finishing one-shot back was Vince Jewell, teaching professional at Woodbridge Golf Club in Wylie, Texas, and first round co-leader, Lee Rhind, assistant golf professional at Midland Country Club. Jewell managed to post a 3-under par, 69 and Rhind an even-par round of 72.

The Callaway Golf Western Championship conducted by the Northern Texas PGA Section was presented by the HP Byron Nelson Championship, Midland Country Club and West Texas National Bank and was conducted at Midland Country Club in Midland , Texas a 7,268-yard, par 72 layout. The 93-player field comprised of golf professionals from the Northern Texas Section of the PGA of America competed for a $21,500.00 total purse, with Perry Arthur taking home $2,500.00 and an exemption into the Nationwide Tour WNB Golf Classic.
