40-Foot Birdie Wins Adams Tour Event

Ryan Nelson outlasted Brice Garnett to win the Horseshoe Bay Resort Classic on the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series. The tournament took place on the Hill Country resort's Ram Rock course Aug. 25-28.

Nelson, from Dickinson, and Garnett, from Gallatin, Mo., finished 72 holes tied at 5-under 279, Nelson after shooting a final-round 67 and Garnett after posting a final-round 69.

The two tied on the first playoff hole. But on the second extra hole, Nelson rolled in a 40-foot birdie putt to secure the victory.
