From the STPGA - Former PGA Tour professional David Ogrin of New Braunfels carded a total of 1-over-par 74-71—145 to win the Overall competition and the Senior Division of the 2009 Bridgestone Southern Texas PGA Senior Series Tour Championship at Montgomery’s Walden on Lake Conroe Country Club.
The victory was Ogrin’s second of the year in Bridgestone STPGA Senior Series competition; he finished in the top seven of all five tournaments he played in.
Ogrin, who earned $300 for the overall win and $1,160 for the division title, in the season-ending tournament, finished two strokes better than Troy Schleicher of The Woodlands, who finish second overall and in the Senior Division with a 36-hole total of 72-75—147. Schleicher took home $920 in winnings.
Montgomery’s Ron Schroeder finished third in the Senior Division, posting a 78-73—148 total for $730 in winnings.
Frank Conner of San Antonio and Sherwood Stewart of The Woodlands finished at 79-77—156 and 78-78—156, respectively, to tie for first place in the tournament’s Super Senior Division. Both won $760 for their efforts.
Marty Fleckman of Cypress finished in third place with a score of 79-81—160 for winnings of $610.
Austin amateur Tom Vickers won the tournament’s Veteran Division, posting a total of 80-78—158, and received a $510 merchandise certificate. Al Flores of Houston finished as the runner-up in the Veteran group with a score of 82-83—165 for winnings of $340.
