Blaketree National Gets Penick Academy

Blaketree National Golf Club, a public course in Montgomery, will be the site of a Harvey Penick Golf Academy, the club has announced.

The academies, named after the legendary Austin instructor, were started by Penick in the early 1990s with assistance from Jim Hopkins and Scott Cory, who then worked at Golfsmith in Austin. Cory is now directory of golf at Blaketree National, while Hopkins is now director of the Academy.

Hopkins' goal at Blaketree is to host one school every week throughout the year, with class size limited to 8-12 students (and no smaller than 2-4 students). On-site accommodations are available at the Magnolia Cottage on the grounds of Blaketree National.
