The Valero Texas Open moves to its new home next week, the Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio. And the new course, plus the Spring date to which the tournament moved last year, is supposed to help attract a higher-quality field. Its date immediately following The Players Championship doesn't help, but, hey, two things at a time: New date, new course. Is the field better in 2010?
Well, Ernie Els is making his first-ever appearance in the Texas Open. I'd say that's a good sign. Els highlights the field, which was finalized at 4 p.m. ET on Friday.
Among those joining Els in San Antonio next week will be defending champion Zach Johnson, sponor invites John Daly and David Duval, Sergio Garcia (who served as a consultant on the course design), J.B. Holmes, multi-winner Justin Leonard, Adam Scott and Vijay Singh. Full field
