Bruckner Comes From Behind To Win Texas Senior Open

From the Southern Texas PGA:

Kingwood -- Greg Bruckner of Phoenix, Ariz., caught fire in the final round of the 2010 Texas Senior Open, firing a 9-under par 63 to claim a one shot victory over second round leader Robert Thompson of Huntsville, TX. Bruckner made nine birdies and no bogeys in his final round for a 54 hole total of 13 under par. Thompson, who started the day with a five shot lead, made a charge on the back nine with four straight birdies, but came up one shot short. Bruckner earned $5,000 for first place.

"The first two days the greens here made me look foolish," Bruckner said. "Today I was able to see the line, and figured out the grain a little better. We don’t have much grain in Phoenix you know. I was able to hit it close a few times and see the lines and make the putts."

Ron Schroeder of Montgomery was in the thick of the chase until back-to-back bogies on 16 and 17. He still shot a final round 67 to finish third. Jeff New of The Woodlands was the low amateur (tied for 7th overall) finishing at one under par (215) after a final round 75.
